Valley Radiologists Opens New Interventional Radiology Clinic on January 4, 2010

Valley Radiologists recently welcomed Dr. Sid Padia to our practice. Sid is a Northwestern University-trained interventional radiologist with a focus in interventional oncology. In response to the growth of our IR program, we are pleased to announce the opening of an Interventional Radiology Clinic to better meet patient needs.

The Clinic will open on January 4, 2010 at 4033 Talbot Rd. S., Ste. 470 in Renton. It will provide a more convenient and efficient pre- and post-procedural experience for interventional patients. The addition of this clinic enables us to better educate patients about their procedures, help them understand alternatives, and prepare them in a less stressful environment. Patients will have the opportunity to have a meaningful discussion and get all of their questions answered. read more

Valley Radiologists' Position on Screening Mammography

With the recent information in the news from the US Preventative Services Task Force on mammography screening guidelines, Valley Radiologists remains supportive of the American Cancer Society (ACS) guidelines and American College of Radiology (ACR) guidelines for screening mammography. Beginning at age 40, women who are not at high risk should undergo annual screening mammography examinations. Our practice urges women to not be alarmed by the recent announcement and to continue to abide by the current ACS/ACR guidelines.

For further information, please read the ACR's recent press release and reference the ACS guidelines. The US Preventative Services Task Force articles is included below for your review.

Below is a statement from Otis W. Brawley, M.D., chief medical officer, American Cancer Society.

"The American Cancer Society continues to recommend annual screening using mammography and clinical breast examination for all women beginning at age 40. Our experts make this recommendation having reviewed virtually all the same data reviewed by the USPSTF, but also additional data that the USPSTF did not consider. When recommendations are based on judgments about the balance of risks and benefits, reasonable experts can look at the same data and reach different conclusions."
