All of our radiologists are board certified by the American Board of Radiology. They are assisted by radiologic technologists who are specially trained to obtain the highest quality studies, and are certified by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists. In addition, sonographers are board certified by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers and nuclear medicine technologists are board certified by the Nuclear Medicine Society Certification Board. The radiologists and the technologists actively participate in continuing medical education to keep abreast of the latest developments in diagnostic imaging.   Susan M. Balich, M.D.
 


Dr. Balich attended the University of Illinois and received her medical degree from Northwestern University – Chicago. She completed her residency in diagnostic radiology at Oregon Health Sciences University in Portland, and her fellowship in cross sectional imaging, including musculoskeletal MRI at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Maryland.
 

 
  Dr. Balich received her board certification from the American Board of Radiology in 1997. She is also a member of the Radiological Society of North American and the American Roentgen Ray Society. Dr. Balich has written several articles and received awards for research on topics such as MRI of the shoulder and CT imaging of postoperative laryngeal cancer.

  John M. Bauman, M.D.
 


Dr. Bauman attended Southern Florida College and received his medical degree at the Uniformed Services University of Health Sciences. He completed his residency in internal medicine and diagnostic radiology at Brooke Army Medical Center and his fellowship in nuclear medicine at Ft. Sam Houston, Texas. His internship was in internal medicine.
 

 
 

Dr. Bauman received his board certifications from the American Board of Radiology, American Board of Nuclear Medicine, and American Board of Internal Medicine. He is also a member of the Society of Nuclear Medicine, Radiologic Society of North America, and American College of Nuclear Physicians.

  J. Scott Bowen, M.D.
 


Dr. Bowen attended Brigham Young University and received his medical degree at the Baylor College of Medicine. He completed his residency in diagnostic radiology at the University of California – San Diego and his fellowship in vascular and interventional radiology. His internship was in surgery and completed at the University of Utah.
 

 
  Dr. Bowen received his board certification from the American Board of Radiology in 1983. He is also a member of the Radiological Society of North America, American College of Radiology, Western Angiographic and Interventional Society, and the Society of Cardiovascular and Interventional. Prior to coming to Valley Radiologists in 1986, Dr. Bowen was director of visceral/interventional radiology at Harborview Medical Center. Dr. Bowen also is a clinical assistant professor at the University of Washington.

  James S. Chen, M.D.
 


Dr. Chen was born and raised in Virginia. He attended medical school at the University of Florida, College of Medicine and then completed his residency in diagnostic radiology at Emory University School of Medicine in Georgia. Dr. Chen did a fellowship in abdominal imaging at Wake Forest University, School of Medicine in North Carolina.

Dr. Chun is from Vancouver, British Columbia. He attended medical school at the University of British Columbia and completed his residency in diagnostic radiology at University of Western Ontario. Dr. Chun also attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where he received a fellowship in musculoskeletal imaging.
 

 
  Dr. Chun is certified by the American Board of Radiology. He is also a member of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.

Dr. Greenman received his medical degree from the University of Indiana School of Medicine. He completed his internship in diagnostic radiology, and his fellowship in interventional radiology and angiography at the Indiana University Medical Center.
 

 
 

Dr. Greenman received board certification from the American Board of Radiology in 1983. He is also a member of the Radiological Society of North America, American College of Radiology, Society of Cardiovascular and Interventional Radiology, and the Washington State Radiological Society. Dr. Greenman also serves as chief of staff at Auburn Regional Medical Center.

  R. Brian Heathcock, M.D.
 


Dr. Heathcock was born and raised in Washington. He attended medical school at Loma Linda University School of Medicine in California and then moved back to Washington in 1998 to complete his residency in diagnostic radiology at Virginia Mason Medical Center. In 2001, Dr. Heathcock went on a medical mission trip to Kenya for two weeks.

  I-Hua Huang, M.D.
 


Dr. Huang is originally from Bethesda, Maryland. She attended The Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore where she received her Bachelor of Arts degree and the Harvard School of Public Health where she earned a Masters degree in Epidemiology with a focus on infectious diseases. Dr. Huang received her Medical degree from the Medical College of Virginia. She completed her internship in internal medicine, residency in diagnostic radiology and fellowship in neuroradiology at the University of Cincinnati.
 

 
  Dr. Huang is board certified by the American Board of Radiology. She is also a member of the Radiological Society of North America, American College of Radiology, and American Society of Neuroradiology. She joined Valley Radiologists in July 2007.

Dr. Justus moved to Washington in 2006 from Downers Grove, Illinois where he had practiced radiology since 2001. He attended medical school at the University of Illinois in Chicago. Dr. Justus completed his residency in diagnostic radiology and fellowship in interventional radiology at Wayne State University in Detroit.

Dr. Klaas attended St. Mary’s College of California and received her medical degree from the University of California – Irvine. Her internship was served at St. Mary’s Hospital. She completed her residency at Stanford University Medical Center. Her fellowship in nuclear medicine was completed at the Mallinckrodt Institute of Radiology in St. Louis.

He completed his residency in diagnostic radiology at Virginia Mason Medical Center and his fellowship in pediatric radiology at the University of Washington Children’s Hospital.
 

 
  Dr. Lund received his board certification from the American Board of Radiology in 1990. He is also a member of the American College of Radiology, Society of Pediatric Radiology, Northwest Society of Pediatric Radiology, Washington State Radiology Society, Pacific Northwest Radiological Society and the American College of Physician Executives. Dr. Lund is a Washington State councilor for the American College of Radiology and a past president of the Washington State Radiology Society.
