Dr. Nicol received his medical degree at the U.C.L.A. School of Medicine. He completed his residency at Stanford University and fellowship at the University of California - San Francisco in chest imaging, CT, and ultrasound. Dr. Nicol did his internship at Virginia Mason Medical Center in internal medicine.

Dr. Nicol received his board certification from the American Board of Radiology in 1981. His professional memberships include the American College of Radiology and the Washington State Medical Association. Prior to joining Valley Radiologists in 1990, Dr. Nicol was a staff radiologist at Sacramento Radiology Medical Group in California and Assistant Clinical Professor at the University of California School Medicine. Dr. Nicol also serves as radiology medical director at Auburn Regional Medical Center. Dr. Nicol joined Valley Radiologists in 1990.
